Weight Loss Services New Year…. New You!

Most people know that SATS Urgent Care is an urgent care clinic, it’s in the title, but how many of you knew that we also offer assisted weight loss programs? Well, we do, and along with our Wellness Exams, we also offer weight loss shots that help increase fat burning, a fat buster combo of B12 and L-Carnitine and appetite suppressants that increase concentration, reduce heart disease, and improve bone density as well as enhance athletic performance. And that’s just for starters. In this article we’ll go over the plans we have tailored specifically for your body chemistry that can help you lose weight, build strength, and become a better you!

What are weight loss shots?

Lipotronic injections are shots used to help you lose weight, burn fat, increase metabolism, control cholesterol, and enhance athletic performance. These shots are administered by licensed healthcare providers like those at SATS Urgent Care. We will perform some tests that determine exactly what your body needs and regulate the amount and frequency of these shots for your body type. There are no guarantees, just as there is no magic bullet for weight loss, and these shots should be administered in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise routine. Typically, the shots will be administered weekly or as needed.

The L-Carnitine shot (Weight Loss Secret)

L-carnitine is a chemical that is made in the human brainliver, and kidneys. It helps the body turn fat into energy. L-carnitine injections are used to increase L-carnitine levels in people whose natural level of L-carnitine is too low. Side effects may include: stomach upset, heartburn, diarrhea, and seizures. It can also cause the urine, breath, and sweat to have a “fishy” odor.

B12 Injections

Vitamin B-12 is a water-soluble B complex vitamin found naturally in a variety of foods, including meat, fish and dairy products. Vitamin B-12 is also added to some foods and is available as a dietary supplement. B-12 injections can give you more energy and boost your metabolism, helping you shed unwanted pounds. Side Effects: Getting large amounts of vitamin B-12 through vitamin B-12 injections isn’t likely to harm your health. But vitamin B-12 can interfere with the effectiveness of some medications, so if you receive vitamin B-12 injections, be sure to let your doctor know. High doses of B12 may cause Headaches, Nausea and vomiting, Diarrhea, Fatigue or weakness, Tingling sensation in hands and feet.

The ”Fat Buster” injection

For patients who are allergic to Sulfa or Sulfa drugs, the “Fat Buster” weight loss combo is is great! It combines B Complex with Super B12 (methylcobalamin) and L-Carnitine (the weight loss secret). Methylcobalamin is a naturally occurring form of vitamin B12 that can be obtained through supplements, as well as food sources like fish, meat, eggs, and milk. Also known as Methyl B12, it’s more easily absorbed by the body, especially if you have trouble with a body process called methylation. Methyl B12 contains a cobalt ion surrounded by a corrin ring. Common side effects are similar to those of B12 injections and may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, or headache.

What happens during an initial consultation?

During your initial consultation our physicians will measure your weight, perform a BMI (Body Mass Index), have you fill out a lifestyle questionnaire to get an idea of the types of food you eat, how often and how active you are, and suggest exercise and food choices to help reduce your weight. During your 4-week consultation period we may also suggest an EKG (electrocardiograph) to determine heart activity. This is a completely painless procedure that measures the electrical activity of the heart during each heartbeat.

Why perform an EKG?

According to the NIH, National Institute of Health:

Obesity is associated with a wide variety of electrocardiographic (ECG) abnormalities. Most of these reflect alterations in cardiac morphology. Some serve as markers of risk for sudden death. Key ECG abnormalities or alterations occurring with disproportionately high frequency in obese subjects include: leftward shifts of the P wave QRS and T wave axes, various changes in P wave morphology, low QRS voltage, various markers of left ventricular hypertrophy (particularly the Cornell voltage and product), T wave flattening in the inferior and lateral leads, lengthening of the corrected QT interval and prolonged QT interval duration.

When you come to SATS Urgent Care for a weight loss program, we will evaluate you based on a number of physical markers that will help determine the best course of action for your dietary needs. This will include caloric intake, exercise regimen, medication including Bupropion SR/Phentermine (which is an appetite suppressant for weight loss) and/or vitamin injections like the Lipo 10 with MIC. The B12 shot can be substituted with the “Fat Buster Shot” (Super B12/B Complex/L-Canitine) for those allergic to Sulfra.

Note: If you plan to use Bupropion SR/Phentermine you MUST pass a blood pressure and EKG checkup.

What is a good standard of caloric intake?

We use the Mediterranean Diet and suggest a daily caloric intake of between 1,200 and 1,500 calories. When combined with 20 minutes of exercise, which could simply be walking, three times per week, this can substantially reduce your overall body fat and improve your health.
