Our Technologies

Our technologies

Our team members are certified experts in the collection and documentation of drug and alcohol tests. It is a fact that the transportation industry is constantly evolving making it even more important that regulated employers work with a company experienced in servicing this niche market.

Our company is ready to service your needs with over 30 years of experience in managing DOT/CDL programs, including random selection, pre-employment, reasonable suspicion and post accident testing. An annual drug testing statistics report is also provided to each client for their records. In addition, records are also maintained at the facility in the event of an audit.

In 2017, our facility expanded to include a state of the art urgent care clinic to address the lack of health care coverage for individuals and families in our transportation and Hispanic communities. We provide fast affordable services at a fraction of the cost of an emergency room visit. Our facility treats minor ailments and injuries from pediatric to adult clients. We also manage chronic illnesses as well as provide lab, diagnostic testing, x-ray services and are the local TWIC enrollment center. This makes us your “One Stop Shop” for all of your occupational and urgent care needs.

Methodology/SOP

SATS URGENT CARE uses DOT regulation 49 CFR Part 40 Subparts C, D and E as the policy and procedure guideline for all collections.
Urine Collection

Each client requiring a physical, drug test or alcohol test must present with a request for service sheet signed by an authorized company representative. A copy of such request is attached .The client is then required to provide a picture ID before any service will be completed. After identification of the individual is complete they are taken to one of our collection rooms where a chain of custody form is completed following guidelines outlined in CFR 49 part 40. This regulation serves as our standard operating policy even for our non regulated clients. This regulation is the standard for drug and alcohol testing and in the transportation workplace the employer must have a current copy available. The client will observe and witness each step of the collection and sealing of their specimen. Specimens are sent to QUEST DIAGNOSTICS laboratory a SAMSHA certified laboratory for testing (please review their information attached). SATS Urgent Care has direct computer access to the lab and receives all negative res.ults within 24 hours. If a sample is collected on a weekend or holiday it will be placed in temporary storage until the next business day. In the case of a positive or non negative test, final results including GC/MS confirmation may take as much as an additional 48 to 72 hours to assure correct results. All specimens are sent for testing using split specimens. All positive test specimens are maintained under chain of custody in frozen storage by the lab for one year. All positives are confirmed using GC/MS analysis. All positive clients are interviewed personally by the Medical Review Officer (MRO) to rule out legitimate causes of positive test results prior to reporting results to the company. All test results are defensible in court and in the 30 years we have been in business we have never lost a case in arbitration or similar legal action.

Breath Alcohol Testing
SATS Urgent Care uses the state of the art Alcovisor-Mercury machine for breath alcohol testing. This equipment is approved under Federal guidelines and provides printed documentation of all results. All of this is then shown on the printed sheet.
Reporting of results and availability

We have the very latest in computer technology that enables us to download all test results from the lab on a daily basis. This same system enables us to immediately transmit individual company results to a secured fax/email or we can contact the company by telephone and report results to the designated individuals verbally. We can provide all random selection or you can select your own randoms.

Experience has shown that DOT is much more satisfied with an employers program when a third party does Random selection. This also helps to assure employees that they are not being singled out when their name is selected multiple times. We can run special summaries given 48hrs notice (DOT audit) should there ever be a problem finding reports in your office.
