Occupational Health FAQs

What is a pre-placement test?
A test that is completed after an offer of employment has been made but prior to employment. The offer of employment is contingent upon the applicant passing the test and can be revoked if the applicant is not able to safely complete the test based on the essential functions of the job.
Where does drug testing take place?
How quickly are drug test results available?
Depending on the type of drug test, most tests are avaible with 24 hours. A Rapid Read test is available immediately.
Can you help my company comply with OSHA standards?

Yes, our medical surveillance exams help employers comply with OSHA standards by establishing baselines through specific testing and periodic monitoring.

How quickly can an injured worker be evaluated?
In most cases, injured workers can be seen by one of our physicians the same day the injury occurs.
How does employee testing create a safer workplace?
When employees are validated as capable to perform their tasks through testing, the results include not only a safer workplace but one that’s more productive, with fewer work-related injuries and lower costs.

TWIC Enrollment

The Transportation Worker Identification Credential, also known as TWIC®, is required by the Maritime Transportation Security Act for workers who need access to secure areas of the nation’s maritime facilities/vessels, and others who require a TWIC®. TSA conducts a security threat assessment (background check) to determine a person’s eligibility and issues the credential. U.S. citizens and non-U.S. citizens in certain immigrant/non-immigrant categories may apply for the credential. Most mariners licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard also require a credential. Regarding card usage and facility access requirements, please contact the U.S. Coast Guard. Learn more about TWIC®

DOT & Employment Physicals

For many jobs, getting a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical or even a pre-employment physical is mandatory. A DOT physical follows strict guidelines mandated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), ensuring that commercial drivers and other safety-sensitive employees are in good health to work safely.

DOT physicals include:

  • Checking your blood pressure
  • Examining your ears
  • Performing a vision test
  • Looking at your mouth and throat for breathing or swallowing problems
  • Performing a neurological exam
  • Checking for spine deformities
  • Listening to your heart and lungs
  • Conducting urinalysis
  • Performing a hernia check
  • Pressing on your abdomen to check for abnormalities

As mandated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, our DOT physicals are performed by a Certified Medical Examiner (CME) following a strict process and are registered with the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME). Anyone who wants to operate an interstate or intrastate commercial motor vehicle must pass a DOT physical.

Drug & Alcohol Testing

Drug testing is a prerequisite for gaining and/or maintaining employment in most industry sectors. At SATS Urgent Care, our certified collectors/technicians reliably perform drug testing consistent with DOT standards for either regulated or non-regulated purposes.
