Medi-Spa Services

Our many services at SATS Urgent Care include some of the top age-defying and appearance-enhancing technologies available today. As we grow older one of the many challenges we face is a decrease in hormone production in the body. In women menopause is the cessation of the hormones estrogen, progesterone and even testosterone. This occurs around age 45 to 50 years old. In men it is called andropause and is the cessation of testosterone production. It occurs in a much wider range between 40 and 60 years old.

The most common symptoms of menopause are night sweats, depression and hot flashes. Additional signs are weight gain, earlier death and dementia. Andropause results in loss of muscle mass, weight gain, loss of the youthful shape of mass in the shoulders, larger abdomen and trunk size, moodiness, depression, loss of energy and sex drive. Both andropause and menopause contribute to mental decline, increased body fat, cardiovascular disease and cancer mortality.

Bio-identical Hormone Therapy FAQ

What are Bio-identical hormones (BHRT)?
Bio-identical hormones are plant derived but the chemical compounds are identical to those of humans. They come in different forms but pellets are the best way to deliver a steady stream of hormones without the roller coaster effects.
What are the benefits of BHRT?
Numerous studies show bio-identical hormones decrease cardiovascular disease, breast cancer and dementia. In addition, they increase energy, muscle mass, sex drive and libido. They also decrease fatigue, hot flashes, insomnia, depression and anxiety.
What are synthetic hormones?
An example of synthetic hormone is Premarin, which is derived from pregnant mare urine, thus pre-mar-in. There are about 30 compounds that are unnatural to human beings. Provera is a synthetic progesterone and has been linked to increased cardiovascular disease and breast cancer.
How can hormone deficiency be treated?

Hormone deficiency can be treated with hormone replacement therapy, and only bio-identical hormones should be used. For men and women estrogen and testosterone can be replaced with compounded estrogen/testosterone pellets. These are inserted into the lower abdomen or upper buttocks through a very small incision and will last 4-5 months in the female. In the male, only testosterone is replaced, and it lasts 5-6 months.

Prior to treatment lab tests are done to determine the patient’s hormone levels. Additionally, men must have a PSA drawn to determine prostrate health. These lab tests will be repeated prior to the next treatment. Then, thereafter, about once a year.

Can Perimenopausal women benefit from BHRT?
Absolutely, the symptoms of Perimenopause include changes in menstrual cycle, depression, mood swings and decreased libido. BHRT can provide relief for these symptoms and help you get back to leading a normal life.
What is the best way to look and feel your best?

Hormone balance is one of the primary factors in age control and it is impossible to feel or look as good following menopause or andropause unless HRT with bio-identical hormones is used.

Platelet-Rich Plasma

Platelet-rich plasma consists of two elements: plasma, or the liquid portion of blood, and platelets, a type of blood cell that plays an important role in healing throughout the body. Platelets are well-known for their clotting abilities, but they also contain growth factors that can trigger cell reproduction and stimulate tissue regeneration or healing in the treated area. Platelet-rich plasma is simply blood that contains more platelets than normal.

To create platelet-rich plasma, clinicians take a blood sample from the patient and place it into a device called a centrifuge that rapidly spins the sample, separating out the other components of the blood from the platelets and concentrating them within the plasma.

What is PRP treatment used for?

Tendon, Ligament, Muscle and Joint Injuries

PRP injections may be able to treat a range of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. For example, chronic tendon injuries such as tennis elbow or jumper’s knee can often take a long time to heal, so adding PRP shots to a treatment regimen can help to stimulate the healing process, decrease pain and enable a return to activities sooner.

Early studies indicate that PRP injections may help treat osteoarthritis pain and stiffness by modulating the joint environment and reducing inflammation, but research is growing.

Hair Loss

PRP injections can be effective in treating male pattern baldness, both in preventing hair loss and promoting new hair growth. PRP can also aid in the stimulation of hair growth after hair transplants.

Skin Rejuvenation

PRP injections are sometimes used as an anti-aging treatment, but there is little evidence to show that PRP reduces wrinkles and other signs of aging.

Botox & Dermal Fillers

Botox (OnabotulinumtoxinA) is the brand name for an injectable neurotoxin used in cosmetic beauty treatments to block nerve signals to facial muscles. The injectables last three to six months. Beyond that time, muscle mobility gradually returns, although patients may notice wrinkles appear less pronounced because the muscles may become weaker over time, especially with repeated injections.

Dermal fillers smooth wrinkles and help plump up “hollowed out” areas of the face, such as in the cheeks where facial volume has been lost during the aging process. They can also help smooth scars and plump lips. Overfilling and other complications can result when fillers are administered by an unskilled individual.

Dermal fillers last between three months to three years on average, depending on the kind used:
  • Collagen, a well-known skin plumper, lasts for two or three months.
  • Hyaluronic acid gel lasts up to a year. Brand names include Juvederm, Belotero, Restylane, Perlane and Voluma.
  • Calcium hydroxylapatite products last up to a year. Brand names include Radiesse.
  • Poly-L-lactic acid lasts one to three years. Brand names include Sculpta Aesthetic.
  • Polymethylmethacrylate is considered a permanent filler option. Brand names include Artefil.
  • Fat injections use fat from your own body removed during liposuction, and these treatments can last one to three years.

If you’re considering an injectable cosmetic treatment, your dermatologist can work with you to determine if you would benefit from a botulinum toxin product, a dermal filler or both in order to meet your aesthetic goals.

Laser Facials

One of the newest and latest skin treatments celebrities are loving is the Hollywood Facial. So what exactly is a Hollywood Facial? Although called a facial, it is actually an advance laser treatment. It is a mildly exfoliating and resurfacing procedure that helps to improve the appearance of fine wrinkles, pigment, pores, and acne! A black carbon mask is applied first and followed by the Pico Resolve laser, which is used to heat the carbon and help it to penetrate the skin.

Laser: Hair and Tattoo Removal

Laser hair removal is a procedure that utilises a concentrated beam of light. This laser light damages your hair follicles, minimizing and delaying future hair growth. You would need to undergo at least six treatments (and the odd maintenance treatment down the line) to enjoy its full results.

Still, after your sessions are over, you no longer have to worry about regular hair removal and hair regrowth!

Although the laser used in hair removal treatments is different from the ones used in tattoo removals, it can still impact the ink.

If you want to go through both laser tattoo removal and laser hair removal, you must first undergo tattoo removal treatments. Once your skin has healed, and the tattoo is considerably gone, only then can you proceed with your hair removal treatments.

To be considered for laser hair removal, patients should:
  • Be in good health
  • Not smoke
  • Have light, medium, or dark skin and hair
  • Have unwanted body or facial hair
  • Desire long-lasting results

The "X" Shot

The “X” Shot is a simple, nonsurgical procedure that uses the growth factors each woman has in her own body to stimulate vaginal and clitoral rejuvination to activate the Orgasm system. Female sexual dysfunction is not a small problem: 50% of women experience some degree of low libido and dysfunction. The X-Shot procedure begins with a simple blood draw. Then, using a proprietary technique, platelets are separated and concentrated. The Platelet Rich Plasma containing growth factors extracted from your blood is then injected into an area near the clitoris and into the upper vagina that is most important for the sexual response. These areas are numbed with a local anesthetic cream before injection, causing patients to experience little or no discomfort during the procedure.

How does the X-Shot work?

The doctor injects the PRP into an area called the “O-Spot” – a collection of structures that activate the orgasm system. The process of injecting trigger the platelets to release seven different growth factors that then activate the unipotent stem cells located in the vaginal and clitoral tissues to regenerate and thus become “younger” with improved functional potential. Women often enjoy some effects of the X-Shot immediately, as the growth factors begin to rejuvenate and enhance the sexual response.

What can the X-Shot do for you?

Although each woman’s experience is different, many patients report:

  • Greater arousal from clitoral stimulation
  • Younger, smoother skin of the vulva (lips of the vagina)
  • A tighter introitus (vaginal opening)
  • Stronger orgasm and more frequent orgasm
  • Increased sexual desire, increased ability to have a vaginal orgasm, increased natural lubrication
  • Decreased pain for those with dyspareunia (painful intercourse), decreased or resolved urinary incontinence (both urge and stress problems)

Treatment for urinary incontinence

Organic solutions to your most embarrassing problems: PLatelet Rich Plasma (PRP) offers a simple and effective solution to female incontinence. Let the power of emerging regenerative medical procedures work for you to solve this progressive condition. Any woman struggling with urinary incontinence knows that it is one of those dreaded conditions of aging that you would rather never experience, and it is one that seems rather hopeless. But, you don’t have to suffer, you don’t have to struggle – the X-Shot treats urinary incontinence effectively.

Testosterone Pellet Hormone Therapy

Testosterone pellets are a form of hormone replacement therapy. They are about the size of a grain of rice, and a doctor will implant them under the skin. These pellets contain crystallized testosterone and deliver a steady, low dose of this hormone to the individual for up to 6 months at a time. It is vital to a person’s overall health and well-being. Low levels of T can affect body composition unfavorably, and as people age, reduced T levels can also cause weight gain.

Low levels of T also affect sexual function, causing reduced sex drive, fewer erections, and infertility.

Signs of low T are often subtle. Here are 12 signs of low T in men:
  • Low sex drive
  • Difficulty with erection
  • Low semen volume
  • Hair loss
  • Fatigue
  • Loss of muscle mass
  • Increased body fat
  • Decreased bone mass
  • Mood changes
  • Affected memory
  • Smaller testicle size
  • Low blood counts

For some women, hormone pellet therapy will be considered a superior method of hormone delivery. With this unique system, 2-3 small pellets consisting of testosterone or estradiol, each about the size of a grain of rice, are inserted beneath the skin, into the fatty tissue of the hip, and the pure hormone is delivered gradually, directly into the bloodstream. The simple in-office procedure takes only a few minutes, first with numbing of the skin, and one tiny incision that only requires a small steri strip, no stitches.

The “X” Shot for Men FAQ

What is the X-Shot?
The key ingredient in the X-Shot is a Platelet Rich Plasma, or PRP. PRP concentrates the healing and growth factors in your blood into an injectable treatment. The PRP in the X-Shot improves blood flow to the penis, resulting in stronger, longer and more sustainable erections. In addition to PRP, the X-Shot also contains all natural fillers. These safe and effective ingredients combine to not only help you achieve better erections, but also increase the size of your penis!
How fast can I see results?
The results of the X-Shot in terms of erectile function are almost immediate. Men who have received the injection have gone home and were better lovers that same night! Noticeable increases in size could take a few weeks.
Are there any side effects? Risks? Downtime?
The X-Shot is a simple in-office procedure. It takes about 30 minutes, and there is little or no downtime. As far as X-Shot side effects go, that is really one of the beauties of the treatment. Since it is made from your own blood, there are no known side effects.
Where is the penis injection given?
The X-Shot injection is applied to the parts of your penis that are most important to sexual arousal and erectile function.

Before given the injection, we apply a local anesthetic. The anesthetic allows the X-Shot to be painlessly given, and the PRP to work its effects in the area that are most sensitive and most important in sexual arousal and function.

How much increase in size can I expect?

It can take time to realize the full extent of male enhancement from the X-Shot, however after about 3 weeks, increase of 2-3 inches in both length and girth have been reported!

Will I need to see the NP after the procedure?
A brief follow-up visit is genera;;y recommended four weeks after your X-Shot procedure. Some men choose to have a second sex shot injection at this time, but that depends on your particular results, and the opinion of your X-Shot Nurse Practitioner.

Vitamin Information for IV Injections

Magnesium helps regulate the nervous system as well as muscle function, helps to maintain blood sugar levels and blood pressure, and is an essential building block when the body makes new bone, protein, and even DNA. Magnesium also lowers the likelihood of high blood pressure and Type 2 diabetes.

B complex

Vitamin B complex is composed of eight B vitamins. Each of these essential vitamins contributes to your overall bodily function. These vitamins help the process your body uses to get or make energy from the food you eat. They also help form red blood cells.

Vitamin B-6 (pyridoxine) is important for normal brain development and for keeping the nervous system and immune system healthy.

Vitamin B-12 (cobalamin) plays an essential role in red blood cell formation, cell metabolism, nerve function and the production of DNA, the molecules inside cells that carry genetic information.

Vitamin B9, also called folate or folic acid, is one of 8 B vitamins. All B vitamins help the body convert food (carbohydrates) into fuel (glucose), which is used to produce energy.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps protect your cells against the effects of free radicals — molecules produced when your body breaks down food or is exposed to tobacco smoke and radiation from the sun, X-rays or other sources. Free radicals might play a role in heart disease, cancer and other diseases. Vitamin C also helps your body absorb and store iron.

Calcium is a mineral most often associated with healthy bones and teeth, although it also plays an important role in blood clotting, helping muscles to contract, and regulating normal heart rhythms and nerve functions.

Glutathione is a substance made from the amino acids glycine, cysteine, and glutamic acid. It is produced by the liver and involved in many body processes. Glutathione is involved in tissue building and repair, making chemicals and proteins needed in the body, and in immune system function.

L-carnitine is a chemical that is made in the human brain, liver, and kidneys. It helps the body turn fat into energy. L-carnitine is important for heart and brain function, muscle movement, and many other body processes.

L-arginine is an amino acid naturally found in red meat, poultry, fish, and dairy. It is necessary for making proteins and is commonly used for circulation. L-arginine supplements can support heart health, reduce blood pressure, lower blood sugar, and support athletic performance, among other benefits.
