Our team members are certified experts in the collection and documentation of drug and alcohol tests. Transparent testing and quality-control processes build confidence in results and reporting, which is critical when you are working with a company that provides medical testing and occupational health services.
SATS Urgent Care is ready to serve your needs with decades of combined experience in DOT programs, including random selection, supervisor education, policy development, and regulatory compliance. Our protocols follow current DOT regulations, and our collection site is fully equipped to provide accurate test results in a timely manner.
In 2017 our facility expanded to include a state-of-the-art urgent care center alongside our occupational medicine services. We understand that your time is valuable, so we provide fast, affordable care with extended hours to accommodate your employees and their families.
Our goal is to minimize lost time, maximize productivity, and help your workforce stay healthy and safe. We appreciate the opportunity to serve your business and look forward to being your “one stop shop” for occupational medicine and urgent care needs.
SATS URGENT CARE uses DOT regulation 49 CFR Part 40 Subparts C, D and E as the policy and procedure guidelines for all collections.
Each client requiring a physical, drug test or alcohol test must present with a request for service sheet signed by an authorized company representative. The client is then required to provide a picture ID before any service will be completed. Once identification is verified, they are taken to one of our collection rooms where a chain-of-custody form is completed following guidelines outlined in CFR 49 Part 40.
This regulation serves as our standard operating policy even for non-regulated tests. In the transportation workplace the employer must keep a current copy available. The client will observe and witness each step of specimen collection and sealing. Specimens are sent to a SAMHSA-certified laboratory for testing. Negative results are typically reported within 24 hours. Specimens collected on a weekend or holiday are held in temporary storage until the next business day.
In the case of a positive or non-negative test, final results including GC/MS confirmation may take an additional 48–72 hours. All specimens are sent as split specimens. All positive test specimens are maintained under chain of custody in frozen storage by the lab for one year. All positives are confirmed using GC/MS analysis, and each positive client is interviewed personally by the Medical Review Officer (MRO) to rule out legitimate medical explanations.
All test results are defensible in court and, in the decades we have been in business, we have never lost a case in arbitration or similar legal action.
SATS Urgent Care uses a state-of-the-art AlcoVisor Mercury machine for breath alcohol testing. This equipment is approved under Federal guidelines and provides printed documentation of all results. All data is then shown on the printed test sheet and retained in accordance with DOT requirements.
We have the very latest in computer technology that enables us to download all test results from the lab on a daily basis. This same system enables us to immediately transmit individual company results to a secured fax or email, or we can contact the company by telephone and report results to the designated individuals verbally.
We can provide complete random-selection services or you can select your own randoms. Experience has shown that DOT is much more satisfied when an employer uses a third-party random selection program. This also helps to assure employees that they are not being singled out when their name is selected multiple times.
We can run special summary reports with approximately 48 hours’ notice if needed, for example when a problem finding report is requested or for a review of your current program status.
